Common Allergic Skin Conditions We Treat

eczema

Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis)

Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes itching, redness, and dryness. It often begins in childhood and may flare with allergens such as dust mites, pet dander, or certain foods. At The Allergy Suite, we focus on: Repairing the skin barrier with gentle moisturizers and fragrance-free skin care Using safe topical or biologic treatments (such as Dupixent®) when indicated Identifying and managing environmental or allergic triggers

Hives

Hives (Urticaria)

Hives appear as itchy, red, or raised welts that come and go, The are sometimes accompanied by deeper swelling (angioedema).
Causes may include allergies, medications, infections, or autoimmune processes. We help determine what’s driving your symptoms and design a plan to reduce flare-ups and improve comfort.

Angioedema

Angioedema

Angioedema is swelling in the deep layers of the skin, often seen with urticaria (hives). Angioedema most often occurs in soft tissues such as the eyelids, mouth or genitals. Angioedema is called "acute" if the condition lasts only a short time (minutes to days). This is commonly caused by an allergic reaction to medications or foods. Chronic recurrent angioedema is when the condition returns over a long period of time. It most often does not have an identifiable cause.

Dermatitis

Contact Dermatitis

Contact dermatitis occurs when the skin reacts to substances it touches — such as metals, fragrances, preservatives, or cosmetics. At The Allergy Suite, we offer extensive patch testing using the NAC-80 panel — a comprehensive, standardized test that screens for 80 of the most common contact allergens found in everyday products. Only a limited number of physicians are trained and equipped to offer and interpret the NAC-80 patch test, and our allergist is among those few. This in-depth testing allows us to uncover hidden triggers that simpler panels often miss, providing you with clear, actionable results.

Comprehensive Allergy Testing for Skin Conditions

Because many skin disorders are influenced by allergic triggers, we provide a full range of diagnostic tests — often available on the same day as your visit:

  • Skin Prick Testing: Identifies sensitivities to environmental allergens such as pollen, dust mites, molds, and pet dander.

  • Intradermal Testing: Detects subtler allergic reactions not seen on initial skin prick testing.

  • Patch Testing (including NAC-80 panel): Diagnoses delayed allergic reactions caused by contact with substances like metals, preservatives, fragrances, and topical agents.

Testing helps us determine whether your rash or eczema is allergy-driven, and guides us toward the most effective treatment.
