Hives are swollen, itching welts on the skin. They occasionally sting or hurt and are typically red, pink, or flesh-colored. Hives are typically brought on by an allergic reaction to a substance, such as a drug or food, or an environmental irritant.
Hives are frequently an immediate (temporary) issue that can be treated with allergy medicines. Most rashes disappear without treatment. Hives that are accompanied by a severe allergic reaction and chronic (ongoing) occurrences, however, are more serious medical issues.
Here, patients choose from a spectrum of services based on their needs— including needs related to seasonal allergies, food allergies, asthma, eczema, immune diseases, and much more.
Hives are typically brought on by an allergic reaction to something you have eaten or come into contact with. Your body starts to release histamines into your blood when you experience an allergic reaction. Histamines are chemicals your body produces in an attempt to defend itself against infection and other outside intruders. Unfortunately, histamines can in some people lead to swelling, itching, and many of the symptoms associated with hives. Regarding allergies, hives may be brought on by things like pollen, drugs, food, pet dander, and bug bites.
Checking to see if you genuinely have hives is the first step in receiving treatment. A physical examination by your doctor will typically reveal whether you have hives. You’ll notice welts on your skin, which are an indication of hives. To find out what may have caused your hives, particularly if they were the consequence of an allergic reaction, your doctor may also do blood tests or skin testing.
Hives can be quite upsetting and result from both known and unknown exposures. Please get in touch with our clinic if you have an itchy rash that is not getting better in order to get evaluated and have your hives managed.
